In May 2021, Vanke Public Welfare Foundation and Vanke Property launched a pilot cooperation to explore the composting of garden waste in selected urban pilot communities to promote soil improvement in the community, and combined with the development of this type of standards and the training of technica l personnel, to explore the mode/system of on-site resource treatment of garden/greening waste in urban communities/spaces.From 2021 to 2022, through technical cooperation with Dr. Li Yanming's team from the School of Resources and Environment of China Agricultural University and Dr. Wang Shunli's team from Beijing Agricultural College- "Spring Mud Action", 11 projects in 10 cities of Vanke Property Services were carried out to study community kitchen waste greening composting and back-end soil improvement.

After more than four months, 79 teachers and students of the research team went deep into 11 pilot districts to conduct on-site questionnaire survey, garbage classification/composting products and soil quality survey and sampling, and output 12 copies of "Community Garbage Classification and Composting Treatment Status Survey Report"and"Community Soil Quality Analysis Report" for each project, so as to scientifically guide the site to adapt to local conditions;Help the project to sort out the high-efficiency composting process on site, and develop an in-situ bioconversion treatment device for community perishable garbage (which has been applied for a utility model patent and put into use on site);China Agricultural University carries out online training of "Community Composting Organic Cycle" for grass-roots environmental managers of Vanke Property (up to 300 people), and outputs 10 video courses and 1 set of question bank to its training platform for continuous promotion; The project produces two community guidance documents: Technical Guidelines for Community Soil Improvement and Technical Guidelines for Community Composting (the application number of the composting guidelines is to be published for more application and promotion); On the basis of the original 11 pilot projects, Vanke Property launched 200 waste classification and composting projects in the middle of the year. By the end of November, the annual consumption of green waste was 4662.8 m ³, composting was 2331.9 m ³, and composting products improved green space by 8728.5 m2;With the support of the national soil data and related intelligence of the Spring Mud Project, the group standard of China Architectural Association "Eco-city Green Land Soil" has been compiled and passed the final examination (VKF and Vanke Property are the participating units).

Think Tank Platform

In the "Think Tank" section, Vanke Foundation connects experts, scholars, and technical teams in the field of community waste management to support related research projects, cultivate young scholars, and fund high-level professional forums. It builds a platform for mutual support and collaboration to jointly explore problem-solving methods, which provides technical solutions for community waste management issues, and promotes the social concepts and public awareness.

Carbon Neutrality Guidelines for the Building of Natural Education Base

Vanke Foundation adopts a work approach of "research - pilot - empowerment - advocacy". For five years of strategic planning, it has successively carried out the series of programs including "Community Builder Support Program", "Star Program", "Planet Program" and "Brick Action" and supported capacity building of grassroots backbone and social organizations in the field of sustainable community construction. The frontline social organizations have encountered different challenges and development bottlenecks with specific needs during different development phases. The Foundation is in urgent need for clear identification and precise response.

Carbon Emission Reduction Capacity Building of Social Organizations in the Field of Solid Waste
